Hi
Can anyone please help me to identify a suitable used shoulder bag for my RB67 kit, it has to be at least 17x10x10 inches internally, I think the discontinued Lowepro commercial would work also the Lowepro Magnum 650 AW would do the job but what about other makes ie Domke,Tenba, Tamrac etc. my top price would be about £100 so forget Billingham, I don't have the opportunity to visit camera shops here on the IOM.

Thanks

Suggest you research fishing bags. Some are so cheap you can buy new. And I rekon there will be plenty of fishing shops on IOM.

I got one for a Bronica SQ outfit. It was a Kata model called Photo Reporter, or similar. It was new, but discounted, and cost about £50. I got it from Calumet, but it's worth shopping around online as I saw them going for less elsewhere after I bought mine. There is also a range of sizes. You would want the biggest one.

I've had a look around, but can't see these Kata bags at reasonable prices. Mine is the PR-440, but I think you would want the PR-460. If you're interested, you can see the spec online to see if the size is right, then look for a used one if it suits. They're certainly well made bags.

Thanks for your advice guys:), have decided to go Argentums route and have ordered one of these http://www.amazon.co.uk/NEW-DAIWA-MISSION-CARRYALL-DMC2/dp/B007089FTW

Should have more than enough room, I have a selection of Lowepro and Oyster lens cases which I will be able to utilize in the Diawa, a nice little project for the long dark winter days:D

Bit late now but whilst looking around I came across this one which looks like just the ticket although not as big as the one you ordered. But if anyone else is looking then maybe...

This thread got me thinking about a bag for my pinhole bits and bobs which includes a 10x8 and slides. Mostly lives in a shopping bag and a cool bag at the moment... fishing bags are the way to go! I had a look in our local angling shop and found a very nice padded carryall which does just that.
Given how expensive some 'camera' bags are these days the angling shop is worth a visit if you're looking.
I think the billingham type/style originally grew out of fishing tackle bags anyway... didn't it?

Yep I think so. Not least anything with the name Hardy on it.

Now we're into silly prices but then it is for fly fishing :D

Go for your coarse anglers bags and prices are really very reasonable.

p.s. looks like fishing bags are going to do a roaring trade this Christmas courtesy of FADU

There used to be a factory in the Midlands, called CCS, but they quit making bags in 2006. I have one of their bigger shoulder bags, it's superbly made. It might be worth looking for these bags on the S/H market.

I carry a similar camera and bits in a large insulated (padded) picnic bag. I was taught this trick by an ex-employer in the sixties. He had his gear nicked in the street because it was in a Halliburton case - very impressive waterproof clamshell aluminium, but instantly recognisable as protecting something costly. We only ever used the Halliburton once again, on a river trip.
The advantage of the picnic bag is that you can turn it inside out and wipe out the grit that can collect and do such damage to mechanical cameras.
