Hi where do you guys get your film ?.I recently went into Jessops (Harrogate) and all the guy behind the counter had was a old dusty box holding an assortment of Kodak 200 and Fuji 400 just in date 35mm film and that was it !!! .I used to get my film from Boots but again over the last year the choice has been going down and down .

Look at the Forum sponsors websites. There are also other online sellers. Buying in bulk can save money with the p&p.

I buy all my film from Process supplies, and have done so for a while now, the only place here that stocks film is Boots, at twice the price of mail order,

With that range of films at Jessops it tells you all you need to know about how Peter Jones views the analogue film market :D.

As others have said our sponsors between themselves are pretty competitive. If you know what films you need then do a quick survey amongst the sponsors and decide which offers the best package for those films. Do have a look at p&p as well it can vary and may be enough to make the difference

As the others have said, the site sponsors are a great place to look.

Like others on here I've used more than one of them and found them all to be easy to deal with.

I live in Milton Keynes, and whilst I've bought the majority of my film from our sponsors, I've found that in Milton Keynes shopping centre, both Boots and Jessops had 35mm film, and of reasonable date.

As much as I intensly dislike Jessops (lack of expertise by staff is one reason) the stocking of film by them now is only a commercial decision. They are in the market for one reason and one reason only - to make money. Film is not going to make their fortune, so they only stock a tiny amount. If they don't sell it before the expiry date, the loss is minimised.

My local post office also has a minilab installed, it's not as busy as it used to be, but they keep a reasonable quantity of film and it seems to turn over quite well. It is sold at the manufacturers reccomended price of course, so I won't be buying from them, except in dire emergency.

On a slightly different line, I have often wondered though, if the manufacturers reduced the price of film, would the sales increase? Fiji in particular seem to be on an upward curve with their prices and reduction in types of film. Likewise with Kodak.

Yes in Kodak's case it is "likewise in spades" as they say. Quite apart from the ridiculous( and I use that word advisedly) price of its bulk film, it's whole range of B&W 135 and 120 film has now way outstripped Ilford's prices

High street retailers are never going to hold film in stock - the turn over is too low.

However, the internet is great for specialist sellers - and our FADU forum is sponsored by a number of sellers who hold a rich and wide variety of films.

As for the cost of film - you pay your money and you take your choice.

Yes the main dealers such as AG, Morco, Process Supples and a few more do provide challenging and competitive prices, but then, completely out of their control the carriage costs kicks in and whoops the price soars again!
