have come across this

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/THORNTON-PICKARD-6-x-4-PLATE-Camera-With-ROSS-XPRESS-6-f-4-5-Lens-G29-/382183660817?hash=item58fbebdd11:g:6OIAAOSwmJdZgia d

on that well known internet auction site, seems to have it's fair share of problems

If it went cheap, would this be a good starter restoration project ?

My skills and tools are definitely only of a diy standard and this is way outside my comfort zone having never done anything like this.

Got to start learning somewhere, but is this a step too far ?

Your words of wisdom and opinions are most welcome.

It's a strut style Thornton Pickard All Weather Press camera with a Focal plane shutter. It's stated to be 6"x4¼" camera, but it isn't, not with a 6" lens. Most likely it's a quarter plate camera.

It's not really a good restoration project to start with.
