Thank you all so much for your kind thoughts. Following an extended bout of headaches, general lethargy and an inability to focus a camera - or anything else for that matter - I was diagnosed with a brain tumour affecting the optic nerve on the right. I'm due in hospital today and the plan is to chop as much of it out as possible tomorrow. The surgeon seems very positive that things will return to normal, so I can begin to make a contribution to this excellent forum again, which I'm afraid I've neglected recently.

Dick had his operation this afternoon, and is now in the recovery ward. I quote his wife's message
"He was talking quite normally and even managed to crack a joke - unbelievable. His head wasn't bandaged just big plasters but loads of tubes."
Sounds good.

Lets hear it for the NHS for a change - assuming it was - sometimes we don't appreciate what we have till we need the help!

Dick's progressing well and should be discharged from hospital sometime this weekend.

Sounds good to me, Dave and more importantly, good for Dick. I'd be surprised if the docs would let any patient out 2-3 days after a serious op unless they are very sure everything is "A-OK" as an ex NASA and Kodak man might say on APUG.

With a bit of luck his OP won't keep him away from his hobby and FADU much longer than the FADU week-end kept away those intrepid members who made it recently to rebel Northamptonshire of gunpowder, treason and plot fame.
