There was an interesting discussion on 'Thinking allowed earlier about snapshot photography. The programme should probably be available on the iPlayer.

I heard that while driving. Couldn't quite credit the prof talking about "curtains" and "flash bulbs" with reference to large format photography in the Victorian era ... (did I hear that aright?) But some interesting points were made.

Is it Thinking Allowed? And I was assuming it was Thinking Aloud ! :p

The photography discussion doesn't take up the whole 30 minute programme, though.

Sandeha, you heard him aright. I've a feeling that, technologically inept as he was, he was maybe referring to focusing cloths and shutter release bulbs respectively. Later in the discussion he referred to "watercolorists of the 17th and 18th centuries", which he clearly didn't mean either. The book sounds worth borrowing from the library if I can get hold of it.
