Hello All,
I want to introduce myself since I'm new to FADU. I'm Noel and my home is in Beaminster, Dorset, but I work in London mid-week teaching the Alexander Technique for improving posture and health.
My photography is rather restricted to weekends and holidays and I enjoy being out with my cameras just as much as my darkroom work. I'm lucky to have been able to convert an old boiler room in our home to darkroom use when we moved in last April so I manage to do a few hours each weekend, usually in the very early morning before 9.00am when my partner gets out of bed!
I specialise in two main themes of subjects since I recommenced photography 17 years ago after a few decades of inactivity. My main interests lie in photographing trees and trees in landscapes as I love the energy and special atmosphere they exude. Also I find ancient churches a wonderful calm environment full of history; a thousand miles away from the hustle and bustle of modern living; I photograph their quiet interiors.
I'm looking forward to viewing your work and sharing ideas with you.
Thank you.
Best wishes,
Noel

Welcome Noel The wife and I plus dog spent a few days in Beaminster a few years ago. We had B&B over what I think was an old tea shoppe in the centre near a park and a couple of pubs.

The tea shoppe doubled as the breakfast room so you had to have breakfast before it opened to the public for "elevenses".

Very nice. I wonder if it is still there. I can't recall the name of the tea shoppe

Welcome to the fold. I envy you, with the numerous old churches. Here, 100 years is "ancient".

Welcome aboard Noel. Informative intro. I also have a soft-spot for churches, but rarely go inside: I like them in the landscape. If I did go in, I'd feel the need to have to break out the 5x4" gear to do the interior architecture justice...

Have fun, Bob.

It's amazing the links we discover when joining a new group! Mike, in Beaminster you'd have been on the main square I think, and the two pubs would be the Red Lion and the Greyhound. I hear from the news this week (as we're in London right now) that the Greyhound just had a major fire, so that won't be serving any drinks or breakfasts for a while!
Les, thanks for ever reading my blog ! Haven't written there for a while as I'm rather busy with writing a second book, my work in Alexander Technique and photography! Nice to hear from you.

Thank you all, for your kind welcome! :-)
