Roger Hicks has written a book (http://www.amazon.co.uk/Medium-Large-Format-Photography-Pictures/dp/0715311174/ref=sr_1_30?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1269164125&sr=8-30) that may be of help.

The Hicks-Schultz book is good, concentrating on what's distinctive about MF (and LF too). Another title worth a look (though I found it less helpful and gave my copy to the library where I worked) is Ernst Wildi The medium format advantage 2nd ed., published by Focal in 2001. Neither text is basic; but I don't imagine you want general basic.

You can if you have a laptop or netbook :D

But seriously, the Roger Hicks book is the only one I have seen concentrating on MF and it seemed good as far as I remember it but I'm not sure there are enough differences between 35mm and MF that you need an entire book on the subject. Some obvious differences are that the lenses tend to be slower, MF SLRs usually have separate film backs, the larger negatives give less grain and hence smoother tonality for a given size print and technically they will knock any DSLR images into a cocked hat...

Exposure is the same and the development process is much the same; in fact the common 35mm plastic developing spirals and tanks take 120 film too (with a few exceptions, so check first).

Michal Freeman wrote quite a book on MF, it's out of print... but seems easy enough to get a S/H copy at a reasonable price http://www.amazon.co.uk/Medium-Format-Manual-Michael-Freeman/dp/0855337141/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1323431188&sr=8-1

I agree with the other posters about Roger and Frances book on medium & large format photography. It is both informative and interesting for someone moving up in format and very well written.

I would agree with others about the Hicks Shultz book on MF, like all their books written in an easy to understand fashion,

It's their fault (honest) that I bought an RB67...

...and a 5x7...

... and an 8x10... :D
