Thinking about acquiring a Pentax 6x7 - I think it would be useful for me for various applications.
I'm wondering - what is the advantage of the later 6x7II model - an I right in thinking this has aperture priority?
I woudl be interested to hear from anyone who uses / has previously owned one of these cameras - especially in relation to lens quality (which I hear is pretty good?)
Many thanks

The Pentax 67 lenses are to my mind very, very good. My one issue with this camera is the shutter which is horrendous when it fires. I may be wrong but I think that the Mk II has viscous damping on the mirror. It needs it...!

As an addition; I have used the 165mm lens for portrait work and the results were staggering using Fuji Provia cross processed in C41.

This may not require saying Matt as you have probably done the size research but it is a very big beast. Looks like a 35mm SLR that has been on substances banned by the all the sports bodies :D:
Surprisingly it was the main camera for the sports photographer Erich Baumann so must have a lot to recommend it in an area where its suitability might seem strange.

I have 2 of the last versions of the 67. I love them. Yes they are heavy but with experience you can use it just like 35mm. I was shooting some wind surfers a couple of years ago, only snag is just 10 shots in those circumstances. I have lenses from 45 to 300 and found them all to be good. If working on tripod use mirror lock up and close eye piece over. The noise of the shutter can scare wild life. Can be fiddly changing the film but the results more than compensate. 3 options of metering, spot centre or matrix.
