Prints in route from Texas! :)

Have you attached some Texas sunshine to them, David?:) I have a terrible feeling the U.K. will need this to alleviate a hard winter this year. Just a feeling and I can only hope I'll be wrong.

Prints now received from CambsIan, photomi7ch and Dave Hall. :)

I'll show an example from each, not necessarily that which will be chosen of course as that's up to Les, but just a flavour that might encourage others to make a submission.

Hi Ian
what a lovely colour print, even if it's reproduced sideways! You've got the exposure and colour balance dead right, which I know to be quite tricky in colour.

Busy beavering away, but have been using 9½x12 paper and was going to break out a pack of 16x20....

... and cut it down? ;) To clarify then... It's 'handling' that dictates the size and borders. To keep the photograph clean, to keep postage costs to a minimum, to fit on the scanner, to make the selection stage easier to 'handle'....

There are different techniques and habits at work amongst FADU friends so they'll no doubt be some variation, but please try to get close to the required size.

I'll get my prints posted this morning.
I actually ordered some RC gloss paper for this, so they would be flat and easy to scan. Unfortunately the RC paper tones differently to fibre, so in the end I reprinted a couple of them to get the 'right' look.

Sadly, even nice FB paper doesn't improve the content :p

I posted 3 prints recorded delivery more than a week ago, on the 18th of October.
It's early days perhaps but sadly it's looking more and more as if they've been lost in the big void that is the postal system...:(

Most "international signed for" letters/parcels will get recorded on the Royal Mail system once they get to Heathrow - You should be able to track it via http://www.royalmail.com/trackdetails.

But the Royal Mail assign their own code which original overseas sender doesn't have so result is they can't track it once it gets to UK.

I've experienced this with parcel sent from US. It had disappeared into customs and original US Postal service tracking code was no good once it was in UK and was never updated after it left US.

Only the courier sent overseas items seem to get tracked all the way to delivery.

If you use the "official" portal https://www.royalmail.com/track-your-item, many items from outside the UK don't show up - I had been tracking a shipment from Ireland that disappeared off AN Post's system at Dublin Airport and didn't appear on the RM track-your-item page. But looking the number up though trackdetails (http://www.royalmail.com/trackdetails) I could see it being held in Heathrow and then on to the local delivery office.

Good job that Keith's pic is B&W and not colour otherwise he'd get a lawsuit from McCowan's Highland Toffee whose trademark was just such a picture in that famous "carroty" colour. :D Alas the company has now gone.

Brought back memories of 1950s Scottish cinemas' sweet kiosks and watching "Cowboy" films. A bar of the stuff would last long after the film ended.

Thanks for that, Keith
