This is a snap from a recent visit with the East Midlands Monochrome Group to the Nene Valley Railway near Peterborough. We were invited to view the signal box where the signalman showed us the key that is used to control the trains on the single line.

It may be the film or it may be more the photographer's skill of course but the print from the neg has picked up and differentiated the shadow details superbly.

I thought this chap was perhaps one of the EMMG who had indavertently removed a vital part and was saying to the rest of you: "I've just pulled this part out of the gubbings - I wonder what it does?

In the background the signalman is asking: "Anyone seen the part I need to get the points set right for the Flying Scotsman due in 30 seconds?"

Skill Mike, pure skill. :-)
When he first picked it up I started to raise my hands to surrender!
