These work really well Stoo. Did you use any particular filter in combination with this film?
Exposures look great and sharp images too. How did you manage the metering for IR and focus with the Holga?
Holga's are "notorious" for light leaks were there any visible effects?

Thank you Marty
I use an IR 720 filter on the Holga, which is possible because I have a step ring screwed to the front of the lens (46mm) Assuming the Efke 820 Aura has a film speed of iso 100, I take in to account the filter factor, which is six stops of light, and subtract that from the iso 100, which gives me an iso of 1 1/2. The holga will be tripod mounted and set on bulb, and is modified to take a cable release. I then meter as usual, which at iso 1 1/2, I usually get shutter speeds of between 1 elephant and 8 elephants, depending on how bright the sun is. In this particular image the light was about EV15, and I am sure the shutter speed was about one elephant.
I know where to focus the lens because I had sacrificed a roll of film on an earlier occasion, taking notes on the markings on the lens, and relating them to each negative, but for an image like this, you just pretty much focus on the mountain marking on the lens, or just before it, and you are o.k from about eight feet in front of you up to infinity. The test was done with normal film though, not Infrared.
Regarding light leaks. I have been pretty lucky with all my Holgas. I have had the back fall off, a lesson learnt there! But no real light leaks. That said, on this Dartmoor trip, I did have problems with the Infrared film itself, and it was because it was so bright, and the sun was behind me for most of the time, when I rolled the film on I did get the frame number inprinted on some of the negatives, so that window on the back of the Holga has been covered up now, and on my next trip out with this film, I will note how many clicks it is to the next frame. I have not had this problem on your average bright day, or with the camera back pointing away from the direct sunlight.
The other problem with the film was I did get light seepage through the edges of the 120 spool, which crept on to the edge of some of the frames, so loading and unloading in subdued light is a good idea, and store in a light tight bag. Again, this is only a problem in bright sunlight, so allways be cautious.
I hope this helps.
Thanks again
Stoo

Stoo,
Lovely tree photos. The infra red works well. I have got my modified Holga now and have been playing with some colour film. Hope to post some shortly. It took a while but at least Barry can't complain that we are not using the Toy Camera section!!!

Thanks Paul
Glad that you went ahead with buying the Holga from Randy. He sure is a great bloke to deal with, and his Holga's are worth that extra few pence. I shall look forward to seeing some of your colour work.
Regarding the Toy camera Gallery, yes, glad it is here and it feels good to share some of my work. It has been a long time since I shared online. Big thanks to Barry, for sure.
Thanks again
Stoo

Beautiful infrared effect. I like the arrangement, with all the shapes drawing my eye to the tree.

It is hard to say, which is the best from the series. All of them are so good and engaging. This tree is beautiful to.
