From a trip earlier in the year, this is just one small part of a network of canals in Venice. Shot with a Wista 5x4 with a 180mm lens. Film was Fuji Acros 100 developed in 510-pyro. SeveSap's rendition on the left, mine on the right. Dodge & burn map can be found here: http://www.film-and-darkroom-user.org.uk/forum/showpost.php?p=71882

An interesting set of prints guys. One dark and moody and the other light and bright and almost looking like daylight.
Which do I prefer = overall I think I like the darker moodier one but I think an ideal print would be somewhere between the two (democratic or what?)
I think I would like the darker one, slightly dodged around the central area to lighten it slightly, but not too much, as I like the darkness in the corners.
I also can't decide on a preference on a crop, as I like both.

two prints and two moods from the same negative

Another interesting pair of prints to compare. I'm inclined to prefer the darker one, but preference is surely not the point? I'm learning a fair bit by seeing the different interpretation in this gallery, really interested in how different treatments can vary the mood, infinite possibilities for variations is attractive. Thanks both, seeing your prints is very useful to me.
