Taken at Trefor just south of Caernarfon a couple of weeks ago. I was attracted by the pattern of the tyres on the wall and the difference in texture between the tyres and the stonework.

Bill, I take it that the box speed of the film is 100 and yet you have managed to get 200 out of it without much if any loss of shadow detail

Not often that you get an EI that's twice box speed. Have I understood this correctly?

Thanks

Hi Mike,

Thereby hangs a tale. I had been using 400 ISO film that I rate at 200 ISO in my new to me OM4Ti. When I loaded the film I reset the film speed dial to 64 ISO that I intended to use but forgot that you then have to reset the index mark on the dial back to the fixed index on the camera. It was only the fourth film I have had in the camera. Effectively then I used the film at -1 2/3 stops or 200 ISO. I realised after a few shots but left it and extended development. The negatives are thin but do print reasonably OK.

Just shows how much latitude there is in film.

Good strong photo Bill and well done in figuring out how to overcome your error. Just glad it was not me.
Congratulations on your purchase of the OM4Ti, a really great camera, the spot metering is terrific. I believe camera's peaked in their development with the arrival of the OM4Ti. Just as well the digital age came to save manufacturers.

It suggests that 200 is very feasible if required and presumably an appropriately longer dev time will cure the thin neg issue.

Hi Vincent,

It is certainly a very capable camera. Not got to grips yet with the full extent of the spot metering but am learning slowly.

Thanks for the comment.

Hi Mike,

Yes, I added about 40% to the development time but that does not affect the shadows too much. I think I could go more than that if ever I am in that position again. Hopefully I will learn to use the camera properly and not make that mistake again.
