The more I look at this the more it grows on me. I liked the reflections of the wet pavement straight away, then I saw the little bicycle symbol on the lamppost. It's an echo of the child's tiny bicycle. even the bus mirror is like en echo of the 'no right turn' sign.

I like the exact match of front heel and rear toe. Not easy to capture a rapid step movement at this exact point. Maybe this was Les McLean's "serendipity" moment as he describes it in his book

Thanks gentlemen for the comments. I think I was lucky with the rapid step movement. Stefan

Hi Stef,

I love the tones in this picture! Smile

Also like the overall composition but thought it might look better with the small bit of pavement cropped out = it did (imo).

Then cropping the bus, of which I thought would also improve the comp in my eyes and I'm not sure... Flicking between the original and the new crop I really can't make my mind up although I do find the bright white of the bus a little OTT.

The main bits in the picture for me are the kid on the bike and the lady, followed by the road sign.

Overall though, a well caught picture and great print.

Hi Terry

Thanks for your feedback.

As far as I can remember the print I sent off had the bus cropped out with just the mirror showing. This is the first attempt. I forgot to scan in the other print. It's a better result with the white of the bus cropped out. I must confess I only crop when absolutely necessary and try to avoid it. It could be argued the white of the bus mirrors the white of the no right turn sign, but that might be stretching it a bit. I agree about the pavement. The child on the bike was travelling at a rate of knots with (presumably) his mother trying to catch him before he cycled off into a busy road. The bus was travelling so fast I thought the shot would be a tour bus! Stefan

Hi Stefan,

I'm with you on only cropping when necessary but sometimes we don't always get the result we actually want in camera however hard we try. Smile

Interesting to hear your comments though.
