I like the mood and composition of this picture very much Graeme but..
I feel with some very careful burning in of some of the smaller highlights and either cropping out or burning right in the figure on the left and the one behind the main left figure would improve it no end.
Very Rembrandtish!

Cheers Terry, useful feedback. I did have one with the figure on the right burned out but I wasn't happy with the amount of black - good idea to try a crop, I'll do that.

Just to chime in that in the actual print, there is wonderful depth and tone, even though it is a dark shot, I think it works.

Vincent it's untoned. Print developer was Multigrade. The print on my screen looks neutral/slightly warm, I think my scanner might be producing what appear to be warmer tones on other people's monitors??
The neg carries good detail in the shadows, I tried too print them out to achieve the emphasis on the reflected light from the table on the chaps' faces.
