An interesting picture Simon.
Personally, I think that I would have gone in closer on the wings, to fill the square frame, to show the minute texture.
As it is, I would have darkened down the background on the left some what.
An interesting subject though.

Simon,
I like this image as it is.
In fact I've spent a good few minutes enjoying it.
I like the lightness in the bottom left as it shows off the light edge to the wing.
The ruffled feathers at the top contrast well with the smooth ones below and the diagonal central veins lead the eye to both the lightest and darkest aspects of the image.

I received this print yesterday. I must say I love the photograph. The tones and texture of the paper are so much more impressive than you can imagine on a screen. I had never experienced Ilford FB Velvet Stipple paper before but I must say I like it a lot. Thanks again Simon. Stefan

Hi Stefan, thanks for your positive and kind words, this can sometimes be a labour of love but quite often there's a lot of head scratching, profanity and confusion, so I’m glad you like. In terms of the paper, you may be hard pressed to find it nowadays as the date I have on the box (which I inherited from a friend-of-a-friends-dad) is 1996 unless someone can prove me wrong and also point me in the direction, as I too am a fan. It reminds me somewhat of the Ilford Art 300 except it doesn’t have as much of a sparkly quality but does retain the ‘art’ paper appearance (and I bet was a lot cheaper too!). Ta, Simon
