Springtime in the Hebrides-lowering cloud and wind to cut you in two. This is an abandoned summer shelter, or sheiling, out in the middle of Barvas moor.

Looks a beauty.

Love the somber tones you achieved with the use of the red filter and that hi light in the water really lends impact to your photo.

Agree with Vincent, that highlight is velvety. i.e. like velvet. Conveys atmosphere.

Good evening Gentlemen! Thanks for the positive comments. This is one of the best things about the exchanges- working and printing in isolation it's hard to keep objective about things like print quality, so it's reassuring to hear your on the right track.

(Of course, you can't see all the sheets of paper that went in the bin first)
Long live FADU

Very dramatic, with the stream looking like molten lead

An excellent shot. It makes me feel like I want to go out for a shoot on the fens around here for some rural desolation, big skies and dykes. I can't help wondering what this shot would have looked like in infra-red.

Great atmosphere. So bleak it makes some of Bill Brandt's landscapes look like Butlins. Is that a figure standing in the doorway of the shieling or am I imaging things?

Oops- sorry Brock, missed your question completely! Yes, my better half accompanied me that day. While I waited for the clouds she went on ahead, and was peeking in the hut door as I made this exposure. I didn't think anyone would spot her on a print this size, so top marks!!
