I really love this! It really has an end-of-the-day feel to it. I particularly like the way the guy is moving out of the picture, against conventional wisdom.

Nice of you to notice the composition - one of the (very) few times I managed to think up the composition I wanted as things unfolded in front of me (one reason why I rarely do "people" shots - conversely, the landscape tends to stay where it's put)... Had he been at the other side of the frame he would have been walking "towards", rather than "away" as the beach sweeps away behind him.


The sheer luck of getting the rod's rings clearly defined against the water is also very important I think - otherwise it could just be a long stick, but with the rings it shouts "fishing rod".
