It was taken earlier in the year whilst on a ‘lads skateboard’ holiday to Barcelona. There were 20 of us in total, staying all in one room for 7 days! So by day 2 is was ready for some early morning fresh air and decided that I’d take my camera with me. Being in a City, it seemed obvious to try and hunt down some ‘typical’ street scenes and I happened across this whilst on my venture.

It wasn’t necessarily the gentlemen drinking their early morning coffees or the light or the building in the background, moreso the dog in the foreground which drew my attention as it seemed to gleam and shimmer in the morning sun light.

I decided to print using some filed out neg holders my friend had leant me. For me this gives it a classic grungy/arty look where you can just see the rebate of the film. Using this technique also means that no cropping of the image occurs, so what you take is what you see. Thinking about it as I write the print could have been cropped landscape to remove the top and bottom areas but hey-ho, trial and error!

Before I read your notes Simon it was the dog that stood out and makes the photograph for me, well spotted. (20 lads in one room for 7 days that's more an extreme sport than skateboarding)

Like Richard I think the dog dominates the scene here.
