As with the print I did for the previous round, this picture was also taken from a set of negatives that I found recently, after about 30 years passing with them being tucked away inside a book, that I randomly picked up recently.

The picture was taken on a tripod mounted Praktica MLT5B with a Hanimex 28mm wide lens, which I used a lot with the camera at the time.

The picture was taken in the East End of London, just outside Whitechapel tube station. I was doing a project about the local area that I lived in at the time for my photography module. I'm not sure I would be able to take the same picture with a tripod in such a busy area today?

This print was taken on HP5 and developed in the colleges go developer of D76 / ID11 at 1:1. It required a grade 3 exposure and then burning in of the sky area at grade 0 to give it some tone.

The print was printed on Ilford Pearl RC paper with Ilford chemicals.

Terry, that's quite a social comment you've got going on there. And perhaps even more relevant today than 30 years ago!

At the time of taking Marty, I was quite chuffed as my photographic tutor was full of praise for me finding such a composition. I still have a copy of the print I did back then, so that will be an interesting comparison to make, to see how my printing skills have changed (hopefully for the better). Smile

Also, thinking about it, I saw the (mostly) men coming and going from the building, but at the time I probably didn't even really know what the building / mosque was.

As you say, 'quite a social comment'.
