I like this image, Frank. It looks like a scene from a movie. The varied patterns and textures bring the surfaces to life.
Alex.

Thanks a lot, Alex & Richard. Always interesting to read a different point of view. But you are very right on this impression, I like it. This is just around the corner of my new home, whereto I moved last year. I was of course attracted by the different textures of the path and walls.

Great lines and intersecting planes.

Hio Marty,
Thank you! In the very distance just above the trees you can even find some of the Vosges mountainside. The intersecting planes are actually the very purpose of this image with this nice flag up in the wind. It is the flag of the European Union and the photo was made on the day of the recent elections. The water, which you can see through the doorway is the river Rhine. Here the border between France & Germany. Across the river is the beautiful region Alsace. In the last 150 years 3 very bloody wars were fought with millions dead. The Alsace changed 4 times between France and Germany. And now? Thanks to the European Union it's all lovely. The border simply does not exist anymore. We do not waste time with border controls thanks to the Schengen agreement. We do not waste money on changing currency thanks to Maastricht agreement with the Euro. We just visit each other all in wonderful friendlyness. Whereto belongs the Alsace? It does not matter! And of course the Alsacians have a wonderful culture of their own. We are often there!:-) Not only for the great wine. ;-)
