The camera was a 5x4 Calumet Cadet monorail
with Schneider 180mm at f22 for 1 second
Fomapan 100 developed in Fomadon Excel (stock) and split-grade printed then toned in Fotospeed red/copper toner.

Sorry to say, but it doesn't look it's best on my calibrated screen Dave. Sad


But that's where having a print in the hand makes such a difference to ones view and comments, I suppose.


A gentle tweak in photoshop my end and it comes alive, which shows up good highlights and a black background and good tones throughout.


The toning colour is lovely and I really like the lighting on the subject, so well done.


It's just a shame all monitors just don't 'self calibrate', so we are all looking at the same thing. Who knows, maybe it's something in the pipeline of manufacturers, appearing some time in the future, although I wouldn't hold my breath for it.

Thanks Alex and Terry. The lack of consistency between monitors is part of the reason I returned to the darkroom last year. At least with a print I know people are looking at the same thing as myself - even if that audience becomes very small as a result!
