I find the symbolism in this photo quick striking, Richard. Especially being posted so close to Armistice Day.

Thanks Marty, this is the 1 single bunker on this headland, on others around there are 2 or 3 at a time, It was put here by the German forces during the occupation and appears to be some form of ammunition store, I neve thought of the symbolism, I suppose living here we are so used to seeing these, Jersey, size for size, was one of the heaviest defended place, more defences size for size than the Atlantic wall, and there were more soldiers per person than anywhere else size for size,

I find the simplicity and serenity of the photo taken in the traditional, classical British landscape style, belies the horror and menace of the central subject.
As a viewer, I find myself being caught out and wrong footed. My eye wants to enjoy the pure aesthetic of the photo which is at total odds to my head and the subject matter. It's an uneasy feeling I have but one that your image provokes so well.

I would agree with you there Marty, it was a bad time for us,indeed, it brings back for me memories of my Great aunt Louisa Gould, who died in the gas chambers for hiding a Russian slave worker, but goodatro or bad it is part of our history, and as such we need to preserve it,if for no other reason than with hope that these events can not happen again, also there are things around the Island which reminds people of the time after D day, when people were very close to starving to death due to supplies not being able ton come from France, and Churchill not allowing relief to get here for a long time untill the SSVega, a red cross ship arrived wit medicines and food parcels, but the German soldiers were worse of than the Islanders, in that they were the only people to be trusted to hand the parcels out, as taking any for their ownn use was punished by death, toward's the end they were serching the dumps
for rotten potatoes War is a terrible thing, and this is why may 9 is celebrated in a very big way here, except for this year of course, it is the celebration of the day of our Liberation

Interesting that you mentioned the Atlantic Wall. I've recently been to an exhibition of Stephan Vanfleteren in Antwerp and a number of images from his book, 'Atlantic Wall', were on show.
All of his early work was on film. Here is a link:

Nice sky, were you using a yellow filter, or is this just the natural tendency of Fomapan? - I remember you saying previously that Fomapan is good for skies (which I can now agree with)

Ib this shot I had an orange filter on the camera, but Fomapn does give very good skys with no filter, it has an extended red responce,

I like the perspective which singles out the building in the landscape. It is strange and put there by a strange mindset.
