Two pictures for this PE round, both taken from the same negative, but on different papers; straight b/w picture on Ilford FB matt and the toned picture on Adox RC matt and toned in home mixed thio toner. Taken on the same day trip as in the previous rounds print, with a charity that I regularly volunteer at, to a local-ish place called Barnards Farm, Essex, which we visit about every two years.
The huge gardens contain numerous sculptures and is well worth a visit.

Now uploaded, I think the toned print is a little off in colour, but it should give you an idea of what it is like - which is a very mild tea colour.

Nice one, Terry. For such a static subject, you've photographed it in quite a dynamic way. And in this instance, I think the untoned print has my preference.

Very much agree with Marty here, but prefer the toned version.

I like your viewpoint and composition, Terry. Subjects that are high above ground can be tricky, but this works.

I'm the recipient of these and I like both versions. The toned version has a lot more shadow detail though.

Rob, I agree, there is more detail in both prints, looking at the two scans next to the actual photographs, especially now in mid day light coming through the windows. A lot of people often say as the recipients of prints, that in the hand they look so much better / different / lighter / darker etc. compared to their computer screens, but unless we all calibrate our screens, regretfully there's bound to be variations in what we all see, but hopefully viewers will at least get an idea of what any originals look like.

And thank you all for your comments. Smile

Two good prints which make an interesting comparison. Never an easy choice I think a lot depends on your mood at the time.

Toned print has it for me, Terry. Nice lines in that shot, a good spot.
