Birgu is a small, historic Maltese town across the harbour from Valetta. We were there visiting my daughter, who lives nearby. It was a rather dull and cool (for Malta) day and I only had my little Olympus XA2 with me (£1 from a charity shop!) I was about to take the shot when my son ran forwards to catch up with his sister who’d walked ahead. A ‘decisive moment’. This print was an experiment with copper toner. Although I like the colour I’m not convinced it suits this image as most of the older buildings in Malta are built with a warm, honey-coloured limestone. I may reprint this and tone it in sepia in future.

Very nice Rob, the two people in the shot are so well positioned that they lift a fairly nice but ordinary photo into the special

The richness in detail and texture really comes through in the print.

Nice angle, you can see the space given, filled with interesting details and your view is lead all the way into the image.

Always good to see something different, Rob. I think the copper works well here.

I think your print has really captured the spirit of this old town, Rob. I like the Copper red toning. It would be interesting to see the print in Sepia also, for comparison.
