Another image from the October Cwmorthin trip. I found this interesting old slate fence post in the garden of the manager's house.

Excellent picture Neil and a lovely print. I particularly like the softness of the grass in the middle ground and the curving black line of the branch. It has a subtle look of infra-red about it too.

Agree - like the light on this - wish it were a bit bigger actually.

Many thanks Steve and Tony.

I think the infrared look happened because of the time of year (October) when the grasses were dying back and where light in colour. The low late afternoon light helped lift things as well. I printed this slightly on the light side to get the effect. The foreground shadow has been lightly held back.

As I have said before Neil I like your photographic style and you do it so well, another good shot and print.

I find this print absolutely captivating. Every time I see it, even as a thumbnail, my eye is drawn to it. I can;t exactly put my finger on what I so compelling to me--probably several things together: the combination of textures, from the crisp top and bottom to the dreaminess of the middle; the incongruity of that man-made fence post in the otherwise natural scene' and, most of all, the light filtering through the leaves and illuminating the grasses. Your photo captures perfectly the evanescence of the moment.

It's all about the light! Just imagine it on a dull December day!
Beautifully seen and printed Neil.

Paul

Thank you Graeme, Vicki and Paul. The light was rather special that afternoon and I was very fortunate to be there. This is what landscape photography is all about really - you just have to keep going out and looking then sometimes it works.
