This is actually a bit more toned than I meant. See my photo last month toned for 5 seconds longer with much less effect. I'm finally getting a handle on this toning method and have learned that the working strength toner is really only at full potency right away. By the next day it is much less effective and slower. Last month's photo was toned in working strength toner I had saved from a couple of days before, but has more the color I was looking for. Toning does continue in the rinse water for a bit so it's very easy to overtone, especially as the rich brown hues look so appealing when wet.
I have a much less toned version of this print in larger size mounted and on my wall. I also have an untoned version same size as this, on 8x10 paper, that I plan to tone less to try to match the display print. Once I get that done I will post a link to it on my Flickr page here for comparison purposes.
But even though I didn't mean to tone quite this much and prefer the less toned print, I do think it works in this version.

Roger, it looks great. It depends on each viewer's taste of course but I'd be surprised if less toning would work as well for me.
The toning and the scene invokes " The Old South"

Thanks Dave and Mike.
This might be a case of being set on a certain look, as I had another mounted, matted and on display that I was trying to duplicate, only smaller, and wound up with a lot more tone on this one. It may in fact be better. I'm also thrown off a bit myself because on my main desktop monitor this looks decidedly red. I have other prints (but not currently a copy of this one) toned at the same time for the same time in the same toner and they don't have the reddish look. This one also looks much better to me on my laptop.
I should just accept that if it wasn't quite what I intended it may actually be better and call it a happy accident that now, fortunately, I know how to duplicate.
