I really like this picture on first looking Andreios.

I like the very simple composition along with the tone you have used and the deep shadows.

The only thing that I would do, would be to burn in (heavily I would think) the top right hand corner, to give the whole print a bit of balance as it is quite light in that area compared to the rest of the print.

Well done! Smile

Thank you, Terry! As a matter of fact, I have tried that. And I liked this version better.. the "darker-corner-version" makes it an image "closed in". In my eyes, this one leaves more space to think about what is not in the frame.. Hard to explain...

Well that's the only way to find out Andreios. And as you have found out, quite often, what one sees in one 'minds-eye' as the 'best way' to do a print, is quite often not the case.

And having just done a quick go in PS on your print of my suggestion, I now have to agree with you! Smile

Thanks, Terry! I have to say that - especially with lith printing - I quite often settle on a print that is not "perfect" in means of "technical" approach.. I find that with lith printing the possibilities of expressing my moods or thoughts from the place are really enormous, much more than in conventional BW printing.

Andreios,

I too love this picture. I know what you mean about lith being so expressive - I just wish that the paper makers didn't have to keep changing emulsion recipes! Are you still using old stocks of Fomatone paper, or have you managed to get the latest version to lith properly?

Andrew,
thank you, just found your comment - this is still the old stock Fomatone (I bought several boxes directly from the factory when they were apparently selling out a batch of the old emulsion) - sometimes I start to dislike the yellow-ish hues of this paper but then it just works so well with certain images... I just wish that there were more lith-able papers readily available to choose from...

Thank you, Richard, your words mean much to me - it was exactly those senses that I felt in that place - and I am glad to hear that I achieved to communicate them with this image.
