Seaton Delaval Hall is a National Trust Property near Blyth, Northumberland. It's partially derelict after a fire about a century ago. As a result it has a rather melancholy atmosphere which matched the unseasonably dull and cold day I made this image in August 2017. As I was on a family holiday I had no tripod so I handhend my Mamiya 7ii and 50mm lens and uprated the film to 800. To enhance the cold feeling printed it on Kentmere Bromide and developed the print in a home-brewed amidol-based developer.

I like this one Rob, the way the pillars lead the eye into the highlight at the back, and the colder tones of the Bromide suit the final photo well, Shame about losing the Kentmere Paper,I used their Fineprint WT paper a lot, one of the best WT papers going,

Thanks Richard. I love Kentmere Bromide but I'm now down to my last 50 sheets. I haven't found a similar replacement yet. I liked the surface on the 'velvet' Kentmere papers but the WT was just a bit 'yellowy' for me.

I think the atmosphere of a derelict building comes over well Rob. Well worth the extra time in the darkroom.

I like this type of vanishing point image and in this case all the texture and shadows picked out in the stone work. Nicely done Rob.

Lovely print - great range of tones and the composition is perfect. And - home-brew developer! Nice.
