Good Evening Bob.
I know this is the 'real' version, but I think the other one somehow has just a little more character to it. Certainly it's all in the eye of the beholder, and I do have a weakness for warm-tone prints.

Looks like I will have to drag out that bottle of Viridon New I have stashed at the back of my cupboard. Last time I used it, I had to go to the shed tho... pheweee! Not going out there for a while tho - it was snowing an hour ago...

Yes, this picture shows the character of the print that I received, much better.
But I agree with Skellum, in that the first upload suited the tone that was introduced, by uploading as an RGB file.
If you do decide to tone a print Bob, it would be interesting to see how it comes out.

Bob- whatever you do don't open that Viradon!! It has been known to cause baldness, and excessive flatulence. You should immediately send the last unopened bottle in Britain to me for safe 'disposal'.
Well, actually, Viradon is both easy and flexible to use. Single bath with no bleach stage. Concentrated Viradon gives a deep chocolate tone. Used dilute it gives a beautiful, gentle warm tone, almost like an Albumen print.

I had a look and the formula is simple: potassium polysulphide ("liver of sulfur") & sodium carbonate. Only snag is that the closest place I can find to buy the polysulphide is from Germany.
Or Moersch has a Viradon clone but again: Germany...
