Frank, that's a lovely composition but I find the scan a little dark. Would the water reflections be clearer if the printing were slightly more high key?


I have just looked at my dictionary, as I suspected that the English word "casemate" is correct here too - and it is.

Thanks, Michael. Yes, a nice idea for another print. This was the first print of this negative, which I made some years ago. I wanted to keep the bridge this dark for the contrast. So that the circle resembles a bit an eye.

I like the framing, with the edge of the darker bridge dividing the frame in two.
They could almost be two separate photos, and at the same time make a good composition like this as a whole.
The darker bridge draws my eye to the "eye" in the photo.
When viewing the larger scan, there is good detail visible in the darker areas as well, which works excellent imo!
