Ian Grant - In a Bad Place

Ian has contacted me to ask that I place the following announcement of a serious event that has happened

His wife suffered a serious stroke in the last few days as a result of a severe heart attack and she clearly needs all his attention in this difficult time. This must have been like a devastating bolt out of the blue for both of them and I have replied that I am sure we can all appreciate this and extend our sympathies and concerns to him about his wife

I have no doubt that when the time is right and his wife starts to make real progress he will be able to once again make contact again with us

Thanks for letting us know Mike. As you say a really hard time for them and we can only hope that she makes a full recovery in the fullness of time.

Best wishes to both of them in this difficult time.

Hang in there Ian, hope you have got the emergency services on speed dial. My wife has had a series of mini strokes, the most important thing is to get the patient to hospital as soon as possibe and get a brain scan to check for a bleed from the brain or a blockage. Once that is established they can then administer the correct medication.
Very difficult times, because it is especially hard Not being able to accompany your loved one to hospital due to covid.
Kind regards, Norm

Thanks everyone, unfortunatel the stroke was severe one on Thursday evening, loss of speech, couldn't swallow or eat. She's tolerating sipping water today.

Once stabilised she'll be transferred to a specialist stroke rehabilitation unit, it's supposed to be a very good unit and the physiotherapists and speech therapists. The frustrating part is there's no visiting due to Covid at a time she needs the most support.

It's going to be a long haul months rather than weeks and complicated because as some of you know she has heart failure.

Thanks again
Ian

PS

Norm the ambulance service was brilliant and here in about 5 minutes
