Circular fish-eye

I would really like to experiment with a 'circular' fish-eye lens. I bought a Canon-fit one on-line from MPB but on a 35mm negative the image does not fill the frame and is rectangular -- there seems to be an internal baffle that defines the frame. So I sent it back (good service, by the way).
When I search online for a circular fish-eye there is an inexpensive adapter that appears to fit onto an existing lens. Experience, anyone?

I only have experience of lomo's fisheye 2 which cuts top and bottom off It would be nice to have complete circle.

Although I have not done it I believe that a wide angle security door viewer can be adapted and will give a circular image on 35mm film.
