On BBC Scotland tonight
Guys (well those able to receive BBC Scotland),
There is a show on at 10pm called "Pictures of Afghanistan".....A portrait of war photographer David Pratt. Mike |
Doubt I'll be able to watch it but it does sound interesting.
And hopefully there'll be some film use in the programme somewhere... |
In theory it ought to be available after screening tonight.

BBC iPlayer has lots of Scottish programmes on for those of us way south of the border. Both ends of the spectrum. Really good documentaries and humour, and all the material in between.
I you do not already use iPlayer, I would well recommend it. |
Thanks for the link Nick.
Something to watch tomorrow, when not staring out of the window. :) Terry S |
Thanks mpirie I watched it on the BBC iplayer last night. I enjoyed that. What camera was that he was carrying around with him.
I did not see any logos on it, which is most unusual for makers not to want to stamp their identity onto their produce. |
great watch thank you for the heads up.

it does makes sense how digital become the chosen media for war photographers. his story about having 100 rolls being collected put things into perspective. Film is still my chosen format due to the process from start to finish. I also prefer the prints of film negatives. |
Thanks for the info on the camera. I did wonder if for private work he had reverted to film as it looked a bit like a 1980s film camera but thinking about it did seem unlikely. Once these guys made the swap and it was simply the best tool for the trade for what is required of a photo-journalist then there probably in no going back
Interesting programme by someone who has been a war photo-journalist for maybe nearly 40 years now and who may have done stuff for BBC Scotland and yet I cannot recall ever seeing him on the BBC in England I liked his down to earth yet friendly manner Mike |
There seems to be a habit of covering the camera's logo when being filmed to prevent giving implicit approval to that manufacturer and to avoid free advertising in general - especially if you are being sponsored by another manufacturer...
