Foma Retrobrom

I’ve just seen details elsewhere of a new Foma fibre paper called Retrobrom. It’s a warm tone paper in gloss and semi-matt finishes. Looks like the new Fomatone Nature and Chamois.

There is a thread about this over on Photorio (Apug). It gives a link along with details of the new paper as:
- fibre base paper
- with a warm tone
- fixed grade: special (2)
- medium speed.

Doesn't say where it is available.

Thanks, David. I’ll have a look at that.

I read that papers don't have a speed ?

There's no data-sheet on Foma's website, and it's not yet listed there either.

Paper ISO speeds are listed for all Foma products on their data-sheets.

Papers have a speed, just look at the instruction sheet that comes with the paper and you will see the speed of the paper given as an ISO figure, for instance for Ilford MG papers the speed is given as ISO(p) 200 for grades 00 to 3 and 100 for grades 4 and 5 and the overall speed without filter ia ISO(p)500 for MGRC DeLuxe which is the MG4 paper, there is also a second speed which is ISO(R) which gives different speeds for different grades, the ISO(R) is the speed that is used for things such as the RH designs Analyser pro

This paper is listed in the Foma E-shop. Also shown are examples of how this paper responds to lith, various developers and toners. Quite interesting.

Looks like it will be interesting to Lith and Bromoil printers.

Testing Foma Retrobrom for Lith / Bromoil

Yesterday I ordered some of the new Foma Retrobrom from Process Supplies (FADU Sponsor) and when it arrives I shall test it for lith printing and for making bromoils.

There are some lith examples on the net but from what I can see there is not much infectious dvelopment, hopedfully I shall be able to get some, we shall see!

With bromoils - in my experience if a paper liths it usually bromoils as well. A paper that bromoils would be most welcome incdeed.

I shall post the results here on these tests as soon as I can.

Neil.

Here is a link to the technical data sheet
https://www.foma.cz/en/en/retrobrom

I have a test sample of about 2 papers at home, but I haven't unwrapped it yet.
