Hello from Washington (the UK one!!)

Hi,

shot and developed film when I was at school and then kept shooting but not developing. Then I went to the darkside and shot digital (which I still do) but a couple of years ago inherited a batch of 35mm SLRs and got back into shooting film with a view to developing myself again. Life took over and then lockdown happened so by the dual wizardry of home delivery and the internet got my self a film developing kit and some chemistry and on Saturday will after over 25 years develop my first roll of film!! I've alos strated planning for an in shed darkroom project over this summer.

Thanks and sorry for the long post!!

Hello and welcome to the forum, Matt.

What kind of things do you like to photograph?

Lots of things, family friends landscape and a bit of street photography. Loving the whole creative process of film and thinking about every shot not just fixing in post on the PC.

Welcome Matt. When I looked again I realised that the "toon" bit gave it away in terms of which country. In the other Washington a "toon" is what they whistle.:D

Hi Matt,

Welcome to the form, have fun planning the "darkshed", they work quite well even without running water. Had mine quite a while, just haven't used it enough.

Welcome to the forum Matt

Lots of people just use a changing bag to load film in to reels - https://shop.silverprint.co.uk/Kaise...t/58476/K6389/

They come in various sizes - but generally the more space the easier they are to use.

Just keep the inside clean - any dirt or dust can easily get on to your film.

Welcome to FADU

It's good to have another member who I can speak to without having a Geordie to English interpreter present.

I don't know Washington New Town all that well but the old town main street I do know. I live on the outskirts of Annfield Plain, so not too far away.

One sure fire way of winding the Americans up is to tell them they pinched the English language and messed that up then they did the same thing with Washington. Never fails!

Any problems with anything photographic, just post away there will always be someone who has an idea.

Regards

John King
