Spread The Gospel!

There are some who desperately seek out information and FADU has always come up with a solution (sometimes several). I did mention it a while back to an acquaintance and the response |I got was 'I am...

Film v Paper

I go along with the others but will say there are so many permutations of film, developers and temperatures, the M.D.C. makes a lot of sense and indeed has been a great help tome..

Rewind Knob

I'm sorry I cannot help with the item but can you not widen the field a little in your search. As far as I know the Fm/Fm2 and FA all have a similar rewind.

There is a company in Vauxhall, South...

How on earth did you forget about the Mamiya 7ii?...

How on earth did you forget about the Mamiya 7ii? I never owned one but if I were a medium format person that would be the one I would have gone for.

Developers

I use ID11 for all my film developing and if the speed is less than the stated box speed, I can live with that. So if I loose a bit of speed that is no great problem. Most of my pictures will be...

Foma films.

Thanks Richard. You have answered the next question about the speeds of the 100 and 400 emulsions are not to be taken for granted.

My negatives are not 'thin', all the detail is there but just low...

Printing Gd1.5 or 2

It is only since the advent of MG5 that I have reduced the grade to 1.5 (where necessary) The blacks on MG5 are more intense, if that is the correct word so I reduce these with less contrast.

You...

Fomopan 200

This is the 1st Fomo film I have used so what I see from the negatives is a softness in tones. Not in definition. I, like you have processed many B&W films and can tell when a film is under exposed...

Printing Notes

I only make them if I am working on a print that has complex variations in exposure. If it is a large print that I don't think I will need to reproduce I don't keep them.

The only notes I keep in...

Gallerie

The E Mail states it will be a while before it is available again. It does not say it is discontinued. It is well known that some products are made in batches and are not continuously in production....

Winding Engine

No there is virtually nothing inside. Before the current caretakers took over the Bowes Railway Museum, it had been left to, well, rot! The local ne'er do wells broke in and stole the winding motor...

Jobo processor

The constant agitation is recommended on the Ilford website that the times should be reduced by 15%. I find this to be insufficient reduction and always ended up with quite contrasty negatives. So it...

I made just 3 x A4 prints from that Fomopan film on Ilford MG5 and found that it was as Richard said, grade 3 max and that is what they all printed at. The printing was very easy with no burning in...

Fomapan200

I did a few quick scans last night and the contrast was ok - obviously the software doing it's job although the histogram had an 'interesting' curve!

I will be printing a few tonight, the proof...

Not my fault then

So it seems my development was pretty spot on using the box speed. I have another 3 cassettes so the next one I will try at 125

I will print some of these tomorrow on MG5 and see how I get on.

First Fomapan film

The Fomapan 100 I was given a few weeks ago is actually 200. I have used the first cassette today and developed it in ID11 at 1 to 1. The Massive Development Chart suggested 8-9 mins, so I gave it...

That's no problem, I already do that with RA4 Dev and I have quite few spares that are clean and empty.

The rate of 'going off' by most developers has kept me with ID11 for as long as I remember....

Ilford HC

I have never used Ilford HC. In it's concentrated state how long does an open bottle last. I don't have a great B&W through-put, I use more C41 but if it lasts as well as unused stock ID11 I may try...

Replenishment

If that is the case then how didn't the tech guys at Tetenal know this unless it has been produced some time after I spoke to them. Or is a case of the left hand not knowing what the other is doing.
