Alkaline fixer with RC paper

Are there any advantages with using alkaline fixers with RC paper? Ilford Rapid fixer will fix in 30 seconds, and wash in 2 minutes so is capacity the only consideration?

I routinely used a 80mm lens to print 35mm negs at full frame 150mm x 100mm (6x4 inches). The lens is about 40cms from the baseboard.

I use FP4/Kentmere 100 rated 250/500 EI developed in Beutler for 10 minutes. Works fine. I use sunny 16/11 as I don't have a meter and I get negatives I can work with.

I had a similar experience to the OP and suspected the container. There is also evidence on APUG that non-Agfa Rodinal is in cheap bottles which is the culprit....
