The opening of cassetts in the dark is far more dangerous than useing scissors, the one time I tried it I laserated my finger to the bone on the sharp edge of the cassett and bled all over the film...

I have 2 tripods but most used is the monopod when not hand holding, this I find a wonderful peice of kit, lighter to carry than either tripod, can be left attached to the camera when moveing around...
