Had exactly the same issue on my Fed 3. Only at 1/30th of a second. The second curtain wouldn't quite go 'home', it bounced, and only went home when I wound on the film. So I never used a 1/30th....

Or IMHO, at least a monopod. Even a monopod makes a huge difference. If you can carry a tripod, all the better, but even a simple lightweight monopod will still see an improvement in your images.
