I use Portra 400 & 800 for it's quality & reliability.

I've also just started to use Rollie CN200 for it's 1950's style subdued...

I use this film and have found that a little tungsten front or side light warms up the shots and takes out the blue cast which can otherwise appear in the 'whites' on indoor/studio work.

As advised already the developer is the key - light/clear brown = OK - dark brown = bin it.
