I don't think the cut off of wave lengths is that sharp. i.e. there is a band of wave lengths and red is next to what we call infra red. I think most panchromatic film is susceptible to a little infra red at the bottom end of the infra red band. And some of what foliage emits when reacting to light can be in that band.

Ilford PanF Plus might be a good choice. It has a narrower sensitivity meaning it'll be less susceptible to reds especially any infra red.
Try a blue filter but also orange.

Not often we revive a year old thread on FADU - a sign of the forum's " maturity" in the longevity sense I mean

Anyway we never heard how it went with a magenta filter nor how VickiB solved or hasn't solved her issue

I hope we hear from her and the magenta experimenter.

Ol' Eagle Eyes. Yes I like that. Makes me sound as if I should be having a pow-wow with John Wayne in a Cavalry uniform

O.K. I hold my hand up and admit that I completely forgot to try that FDD filter with B&W film - sorry.
I used some old outdated APX 400 that I keep for messing about and I have to admit that the pics I took in the garden yesterday to try it showed very little difference between filtered and unfiltered shots. Maybe that particular filter, as it isn't intended for such use, affects too narrow a band of frequencies. Glad I finally tried it though as the knowledge is as useful to me as to you.
