Default Greetings to all

And big thanks to Dave Miller for the invitation to join his gang of luddites and social misf - talented artists! I'm proud to say that I've been an owner of two of Dave's prints for a few years now, after my initiation of a print exchange over at APUG.. I had to talk him into it, for.. like 20 times! -kidding.. I've only looked around this site a bit in the last day, I see some familiar APUG'ers here and hope to learn and share the wealth of info that we've all accumulated over the years. Is there a spell check button for this dialogue box? Does it correct everything into Queen's English? Anyway, my story is that I played in rock bands (bass guitar, Euro Prog -Gentle Giant, Yes styles, DreamPop, DoomJazz styles) for decades, mostly original bands and in some cover bands doing hundreds of shows. I've maintained a living in the music industry in distribution, promotion, label management and other more creative sides since 1978. When I moved to Carmel in '99, I mostly gave up playing in bands and switched my creative outlet to B&W photography. I took a year of darkroom classes at Monterey Peninsula College before building a darkroom in my garage. One of my class instructors at MPC was Patrick Jablonski, a landscape photog rep'd by Ansel Adams gallery, prints for Adams publications and was also an assist to the late Morley Baer. I would also go in on my class off nights and join in with other darkroom class sessions as often as I could get in. Other classes instructed by Martha Casanave, Roger Fremier and other less notables. Henry Gilpin had just retired as an instructor the year before I enrolled... That college darkroom had about 20 Saunders LPL 6700's and 5 Beselers 23C's so there was usually an open station. B&W photo culture is rich where I live being a short distance from the Weston and Photography West galleries where I can walk in and view some Adams, Weston's, Loranc's, Bernhard's, Kenna's, Rolfe Horn's, Brad Cole's and other powerful artists. Now, getting MY work into those galleries is not likely to happen anytime soon! I shoot about half and half with a Mamiya RB67 and Linhof Tech IV with Delta 100 and HP5 and print on an older Saunders D4500 dichroic. Naturally, I invite anyone coming to the Monterey Penin to get in touch, drop by, go shooting, get good shooting location ideas, process film in my darkroom or just have a cocktail on the deck. Cheers !
