Default Greetings from East Hampshire

Hi there

Just what I was looking for – a forum dedicated to the film user. I read the announcement in B&W Magazine.

My name is Stephane Rocher and I make my living as a professional photographer. I also teach photography at a big college in Hampshire.

Although using pixel based media for the business my real passion is black & white film which I use for my personal work. After having been a few years without darkroom I have now finally got my own darkroom again. Although at college we have a very big and active darkroom I prefer to work in my own (the man's cave). What needs to be done is to connect the waste water pipe and set-up my equipment before I can get started again (the only issue will be time!!!).

I very much enjoy traditional printing techniques but want to explore more alternative techniques as well. I spent a few fantastic days with Andrew Sanderson in his darkroom which was a real eye opener to me.

I use various cameras such as Canon AE1, Mamiya 645 super, Holga (untaped) and self made pinholes. My latest acquisition is a Sinar P which is waiting to be taken outside. This will be a challenge as my 4x5 experience is very little. But I'm sure some FADU members will be able to give me some tips.

I look forward to joining the discussions with like minded people and please feel free to contact me if you want to meet up for a film chat and a coffee.

Best wishes
Stephane

PS: Most of my films are developed in Rodinal - I hope this does not make a bad darkroom worker

Welcome Stephane. There's nothing wrong with Rodinal, I guess most of us have a bottle, even if it's only as a standby.

Welcome Stephane and all the best with the Sinar. Nothing wrong with Rodinal; I believe it was given to Moses along with the 10 commandments So its been around for a long time.

Welcome Stephane. No matter what the film there always seems to be a dev time for it with Rodinal. Indeed on another "no-names" site there is allegedly a "Church of Rodinal".
