Default The Girl in the Picture

This film is being shown on TalkingPicturesTV here in the UK on 18/02/2021 at 22:00 - 23:50 GMT.

It's about a young Glasgow photographer in the mid 1980s, played by John Gordon Sinclair. Quite nostalgic as he drives an elderly cornflower blue Citroën 2CV, just like I used to have at the same time, though mine wasn't as rough as his.

It's in the Bill Forsyth mould but doesn't have the charm of That Sinking Feeling or Gregory's Girl. It's certainly worth watching, though.

Thanks, Nick. I’ll try to watch it. I’ve seen the other two films, but not this one.

For fans of Bill Forsyth I'd say Comfort and Joy is a 'must see'. Takes Glasgow's vicious ice-cream wars and makes an adult fairy-tale out of them. I saw it when it opened in Glasgow, and have always thought it was Forsyth's most complete film.
Sinclair recently turned in a TV murder-mystery called (I think) Traces- hardly recognised him. But then again, the years have put a bit of wear and tear on me too.

I recently watched Traces and would rate it as worth watching but I just didn't notice which part he played. Must look it up on Wikipedia now. Have just done so and even when seeing the part he played I still had problems connecting him to the person I remember in Gregory's Girl. My, has he changed!

He was the main character’s father, Mike.
