DK-50, may it be stored as concentrate?
I have inherited two cans of DK-50 powder, intended for 1 gallon of stock solution each. The cans must be about 1965 vintage but I am sure that they will work fine.
A gallon jug, however, is an inconvenient way to store the solution for me. But I do have nice 1 liter dark bottles. Therefore I would like to dissolve the powder in 1 liter (supposing it dissolves fully!) and keep the concentrate, i.e. 1 can in 1 liter instead of 1 gallon. This is about a 3.8 times concentration with respect to what the Great Yellow Father intended. For use, I would dilute this concentrated solution, in order to obtain a working solution of the desired strength. Any opěnions on this idea? Any comments on DK-50? My plan is to try it with HP5+ and FP4+. (I gather that DK-50 was a relatively energetic developer, intended for 4x5 press photographers and not as nice as D-76) |

It'll keep about a year like D76/ID-11 once made up. Expect slightly grainier negatives than normal.
Like you I have I think 3 packets of DK50 made in the UK, it wasn't sold in tins here. Ian |
