Default I need 5 litres of fixer at the best price.

I still need a replacement 5 litres of Fixer.

The last time I bought it, it was Agfa at about £22.00 - prices on average for all brands are now around £32.00! (With extra p/p of course.)

I've heard that Champion is the cheapest brand, but Silverprint don't stock it anyway.

Where do others get theirs from? (=Just the cheapest, I don't mind the brand.)

My last purchase was Tetenal fixer from the Imaging Warehouse and that was a good while ago but from what I've seen Amfix is the cheapest by a mile This mainly seems to be stuff kept by Firstcall mainly or exclusively. It's minimum delivery charge tend to be higher for light packages but at the weight of 5L of fixer and the price of Amfix it may be the best bet

A caveat: I haven't used it but I see no reason why it is likely to be inferior to other fixers.

Champion 5 litres from Firstcall £23.79 and Tenenal 5 litres £23.76. The carriage would be high though so best to order when you require other items.

Champion is a major chemical manufacturer and it's said they make the chemicals for most available brands.

Thanks Neil. Amfix seems to have jumped a lot in price It really doesn't seem that long ago that it beat all other fixers by a mile on price. Now it would seem that other fixers have stayed much as they were or only risen by a little but Amfix really has shot up in price

So sorry Terry. That will teach me not to assume that things stay much the same even in mundane things like fixer

Mike,

It's a juggling act to know what to buy and when to buy - at the right price that is. With fixer, if I'm placing a 'free post' order with any supplier I tend to add 5 liter of fixer to the order even if I have it in stock.

Silverprint 10% offer long gone now. BUT!

I have just been comparing that well known auction site with Silverprints own web site.

Take a look at the seller that goes under the i.d. of silverprintgb
both have the same address.

The auction site has free post and packaging, but Silverprint charge a standard £6.50p unless you spend £100.00p
Silverprint shop adds vat and carriage on at the cashout.
These prices are what you actually part with out of your wallet.

ADOTOL 1 litre auction £5.99p shop £14.20p

Kodak Porta 400 auction £39.00p shop £55.94p
120 5 pack.
New stock.

I compared a few items on their auction site, and it all seems a lot cheaper. Plus you know it is coming from a reputable supplier.

Cheers.
