Default Camera glue

Hello
Can anyone recommend a glue that will restick camera leatherette but will allow it to be removed if necessary in the future?

I haven't done much of this but the 3M Feathering Disc Adhesive has worked for me in the past when I needed to be able to remove a covering.

I picked up mine at our local Acklands-Grainger for about $40 (Can) a tube

I would be cautious about using Contact Adhesive such as Evostick.

If anyone else is old enough, do you remember an adhesive used to stick prints to mounting board called 'Cow Gum'? That has not been available for many years because the fumes were deemed injurious to health (It didn't affect me!)
It was replaced with another similar product which is available from good well stocked art shops. Cannot remember it's trade name but will search and see if I can find it again.

Like Evostick, you had to coat both surfaces, let it dry and then bring them together. The bond was immediate but did let you peel the surfaces apart.

That didn't take long. It is called 'Studio Gum'. It smells very similar to Evostick, Cow Gum and the like but is not so pungent. The downside is it is relatively expensive at at roughly £10 for a 250ml tin, but what it will do is allow you to remove the covering againb which is one of the things you mentioned.

Yes, I learnt to use Cow Gum whilst doing a graphic design course in the 1980's. I think that I might even still have a partially filled tin of it somewhere. I became quite proficient at using it, whilst also teaching myself to use one of the first Mac computers that the college got in. How things have changed!

Is Cow Gum similar to Copydex?

Cheers.

No quite different. Cow Gum has a different (petrol based?) solvent and I am not sure what Copydex is dissolved in but it doesn't wash off the brush easily. I used to mount photos with Cow Gum but it stained the image mounted behind glass although after they were taken out, with time the stain disappeared (evaporated?). I use Copydex to stick down RC Prints onto mounting board as a routine. It makes Fibre based prints curl up and sticking them down difficult.

I would also be cautious about using a contact adhesive for what you propose.

Mike

I've used Fiebings Leathercraft Cement in the past for leather repairs. I've no idea if it's possible to then remove what's been stuck down with it. It looks to be more environmentally friendly than some of the other glues that have been mentioned.

There is also spray adhesive that should do what you are asking
