Default RA4 Stabiliser

Hi

dose anybody use RA4 stabiliser ?

if you are which one and what is the process / usage amount ?

I process in a nova slot and use Fuji CA but could do with using less wash water as I don't have running water

best

robinb, I have used it in the past when I was doing RA4 but it has been a number of years now since my last RA4 print. However I used it as a print brightener as I have always had running water for prints

Mine was bought from Nova Darkroom when it was still in Warwick so a long time ago. My instructions say that it will only do 20 10x8 prints at 1+3 without any water at all and Nova recommended that a dip and dunk in water was used whereby the capacity increased to 40 prints so even a quick dip in water helps

What I cannot now recall doing is comparing a wash in running water only print was any less bright that one done with a full wash and then brightener

It would seem to work OK in place of water otherwise why would Nova risk making the claim but without any water it might be quite expensive.

On the other hand at 1+9 dilution a 1 litre bottle does 200 10x8's even without water which is quite a lot and if water is awkward in your set-up it might be a price worth paying

I have never used it. I have prints over 20 years old that are still as I developed them. I just make sure they are adequately washed.

A mistake on my part as I hope has been noticed It should have said 1+9 dilution in the earlier part of my post and not 1+3.

Thanks Mike

I've just bought a bottle from Nova

it dose not mention its keeping properties or anything much at all really 20 sheets from blix
40 after a short wash and 60 after a full wash
can i use it forever until 20/40/60 sheets have been thru it or dose it only last a day in a tray ?

Do you know how I would know if it is still working without waiting for prints to fade/yellow etc

I've emailed fotospeed but they do not seem to sell it any longer so who knows if they even remember what it is...

best

robin
