Enlarger Filters
I have a Opemus 6 with a Colour Head 3 are there any charts to translate my built in filters to use for multi grade paper. I did b/w prints 30 years ago but never got in to multi grade filtering, I mostly did Colour prints using my colour analyser .

Normally, there is a sheet with notes regarding filtration with each box/pack of paper.

The Meopta colour head uses it's own (meoptea) values. Ilford puplish values for durst, kodak and meopta , and you will find the grades and filter settings on the leaflet packed with the paper, or Ilford do a tech lpage on their website, contrast control, other than that I can't help as I use a Meopta 6 but with a condenser head

Flack if my experience with a Durst colour head is anything to go by then the dual filtration which Ilford gives for the same exposure for each grade from 0 -5 only applies and even then not exactly between about grades 2-3
You can of course use the single filtration values of Y and M only but you need to find the increase or decrease in exposure for each grade depending on whether the next print needs a higher or lower grade Frankly I prefer to use the Ilford under or over the lens filters that come in a pack. They are pretty well balanced for the same exposure for each grade but of course it is an extra expense to buy them and eventually they need to be replaced which filters in a dichroic head do not Mike |
